My son turned 7 on Monday. I've been busy spending each morning with my kidlets at the local swimming centre as part of their school's swimming program. Each year around this time they take part in a week long swimming program teaching them swimming safety etc. Both kidlets have done an amazing job in their swimming.
Last year both were in the beginner's group & were scared to have water splashed near them, clung to the side etc. J is now able to semi-swim without a floatation board. Miss A had a near-drowning incident in a friend's pool last Summer so was petrified at the thought of lessons this year, but this week she has gotten her confidence back and is slowly easing away from that edge.
My son J had a great birthday. He got lots of nice gifts and has chosen to save up his birthday money ($85 all up). He REALLY wants a Nintendo DS, so hubby said if he saves his birthday and Christmas money until we move into the new house, then hubby will give both kidlets an extra $50.
J requested a "monster cake" this year. Normally I make a chocoate cake with sprinkles on top but I decided to do something special in lieu of a party. He chose a monster design. It wasn't perfect but it turned out ok, and J loved it, so that's the main thing. Here are a few pics of his birthday and the kidlets swimming!
